PLA tow filters exhibit a distinct chemical affinity towards carbonyl compounds in cigarette smoke, effectively intercepting harmful substances like formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and crotonaldehyde by over 20% more compared to acetate filters. PLA tow filters intercept hazardous substances such as nicotine, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, benzo(a)pyrene, and N-nitrosamines by approximately 10% more than acetate fiber filters.
PLA is entirely biodegradable, completely breaking down into CO2 and H2O within a year under landfill conditions, facilitating carbon cycling on the Earth's surface.
Furthermore, PLA fibers exhibit excellent flame retardancy and antibacterial properties, reducing the risk of smoking-related fires and enhancing filter quality.
